About Attiq
Attiq Malik is a Director of Liberty Law Solicitors and a solicitor-advocate. His Higher Rights of Audience allow him to appear in all civil and criminal courts in England and Wales.
His criminal work centres on serious cases — complex fraud, terrorism and murder. Vanity Fair described him as “well known in the UK… a prominent… criminal defence solicitor” for his work representing the alleged leader of one of Europe’s biggest organised crime groups. He has won acquittals for clients on Channel 4’s 24 Hours in Police Custody, appearing across several series, and is a member of the Fraud Lawyers Association.
Attiq was the lawyer in the Shukri Abdi case, which drew more than a million signatures calling for justice and became part of the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.
In employment law he has appeared in the Employment Appeal Tribunal, where he successfully argued a point that clarified how long claimants have to bring a tribunal claim after ACAS conciliation. He regularly advises employees and businesses on settlement agreements and ACAS early conciliation, and has acted for organisations from SMEs to multinational companies on employment and regulatory law — including prosecutions brought by HMRC and Trading Standards. He has also acted for the RMT, T&G and CWU trade unions.
Outside the office he takes on pro-bono work such as actions against the police, formerly sat on the board of Luton Food Bank, and appears on radio and television discussing discrimination in the criminal justice system.
