Why us

Defending your rights in the workplace.

Our employment solicitors understand the law and will fight for your rights. We combine years of experience as advocates with extensive experience in court, so your case is prepared with the tribunal in mind from day one.

From your side, to the courtroom.

  1. Advocates first.

We bring years of experience as advocates to employment work, representing clients in Employment Tribunals and on contracts of employment, TUPE transfers, human rights and discrimination cases.

  2. Litigation know-how.

With years in the courtroom, we approach each case from a litigator’s point of view. We know how the system works and how a judge is likely to see the issues, and we use that to find the right solution for you.

  3. Advice and representation combined.

The same team that advises you at the start can negotiate your settlement and represent you at the tribunal, so you get consistent, tailored advice from first call to final hearing.

I could not recommend this firm enough. They manage to maintain complete professionalism whilst also being personable. Rasheda and Dean clearly explained every step of the process from beginning to end, with Dean taking the time to explain all of legal jargon. I really appreciated this as it made, what started as a daunting experience, so much easier to complete. I am so glad that I took the time to look around and read reviews before choosing any local firm. It really made a difference. Thank you Liberty Law.

Liberty Law took over my case at its hardest point. Dean Garrett was calm, straight-talking and on top of every detail from the first call: he strengthened my case, instructed an outstanding barrister, and his judgement was right at every turn. Rasheda kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes — calls arranged, documents where they needed to be, nothing ever too much trouble. My case concluded on day two of the final hearing, with an outcome I was very pleased with. They believed in my case when it mattered, and they delivered. Highly recommended.

Questions people ask

General information, not advice on your case. For that, speak to us — the first conversation costs nothing.

How long do I have to make an Employment Tribunal claim?

For most claims, the time limit is three months less one day from the date of the act you are complaining about, or from the date your employment ended. ACAS early conciliation can extend this. Time limits are strict, so speak to us as early as you can.

Do I have to contact ACAS before making a claim?

Yes, for most claims. ACAS early conciliation is a compulsory step before you can bring most Employment Tribunal claims. It also gives you a chance to resolve the dispute without a hearing. We can advise you before and during the process.

Do I need two years’ service to bring a claim?

For ordinary unfair dismissal, you generally need two years’ continuous service. There are important exceptions: dismissals that are automatically unfair, such as for whistleblowing, need no qualifying service, and neither do discrimination claims. The Employment Rights Act 2025 is bringing changes that are being phased in, so ask us how the rules apply to you.

How much will it cost?

Our first call is free. As a guide, an initial consultation is usually a fixed fee of £250 to £500, and our hourly rates are £150 to £500 plus VAT. Funding options include hourly rates, fixed fees, damages-based agreements and insurance-based funding. Our full fee guide is on our pricing page.

Who pays for advice on a settlement agreement?

A settlement agreement is only binding if you have received independent legal advice on it. Employers usually contribute towards the cost of that advice, and in many cases this covers our fee. We will confirm the position with you before we start.

How long will my case take?

It depends on the case. If your matter is resolved quickly, it may take 2 to 6 weeks from your instructions, and most matters that settle before a hearing do so in around 8 to 16 weeks. A claim that goes to a final hearing is likely to take 6 months to 2 years.

Nothing on this page is legal advice, and no solicitor–client relationship is created by reading it. Every case turns on its own facts.
